I began this work by exploring my connection to Persian rugs and the feeling of home they carry for me. I experimented with combining an old rug, colourful wool and hand-built clay, allowing the wool to flow between the textile and the ceramic forms.
I was interested in making the boundary between weaving and ceramics less clear — in seeing how a familiar cultural material could be transformed into a new sculptural form. This experiment has shaped my current interest in memory, cultural identity, and the transformation of Persian textile traditions through clay.
