A life-size reclining figure modelled in clay, built directly from a live model. Working from observation rather than reference, the piece is an exercise in seeing — in following the weight, volume and quiet gesture of the human form as it rests.
Modelling from life is a foundational part of learning to sculpt: the body is built up by hand in soft clay, section by section, always returning to the living form in front of you. The surface keeps the memory of that process — the press of fingers, the search for the right curve.
