Botteh Jeqqeh is a traditional Iranian motif — the paisley form — that has been used across a wide range of crafts throughout history, including textiles, carpets, ceramics and glasswork.
The object is created using the coil technique. The body is terracotta clay, and the raised design has been added using the shelak technique. Cutting is used to create the openwork designs around the neck.
The aim was to give the piece an aged appearance, using underglaze colour with a clear glaze over the top.
